Police had no other information on how the bird was caught or killed, but said two males - one adult and one youth - were charged under the provincial Wildlife Regulations which prohibit the killing of an animal without a licence.

Craig Cleary said he didn't have the details as to what happened to the gull.

Past year a kitten was reported to have been set on fire at the festival.

Police also say a man was found unresponsive and having difficulty breathing around 12:40 a.m. Monday.

In total, police received 34 calls for service over the past day - including a report of two people catching and killing a bird in the campground. Police and medical staff provided initial medical care until the arrival of STARS.

In all, police responded to 135 calls for service at the annual country music festival this year, up from 114 in 2016. Previous year there were 114 calls for service.

RCMP also say no impaired driving charges were laid on the festival grounds.

"I expect that a lot of the public attention around impaired driving and the harm that it can cause is sinking in", Sgt. Cleary said.

"Our presence in and around the site was obviously very pronounced and noticeable. So whether it's our enforcement or just the decision making of the public together, I think that contributed to the reduction of impaired driving offences".
