A four-member committee, comprising CoA member Diana Eduljee, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting president CK Khanna, secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and CEO Rahul Johri, was also formed and announced that it would meet Shastri on Tuesday, July 18, to figure out the composition of the support unit, especially Khan's role as he was reportedly not willing to take up a full-time role. According to the conflict-of-interest issue of BCCI, Arun will have to leave other coaching jobs, if appointed as India's bowling coach. "A head coach should have a comfort level".

Robin, who was sacked as fielding coach following India's poor performance in the 2009 T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy, said he was not in a position to comment on the Kohli-Kumble saga. "All you can do as a coach is present your case on how you think you can make a difference and help the team perform better", he said.

While the India vacancy appealed to Gillespie, who impressed many with his work at Yorkshire, the 42-year-old is unlikely to take charge of Sri Lanka following Graham Ford's departure. "It's as simple as that".

The former Australian cricketer in a way backed BCCI's call to make Shastri the head coach of the national team.

However, now it is clear that the whole point of confirming Dravid and Zaheer Khan will be done only after the meeting with CAC, clarified CoA.

On being asked whether the head coach and the consultants were selected in a proper manner, Singh declined to make a comment.

Former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie has revealed that he "seriously considered" applying for the post of Team India head coach which has now been bagged by Ravi Shastri.

The appointment of Shastri as the head coach was also mired in controversies when reports emerged that Shastri was the first-pick choice of Sachin Tendulkar, a CAC member, while Sourav Ganguly, the other member of the committee, wasn't in agreement with the choice.

"Three appointments which are core to the coaching team have been decided".

Why were Dravid and Khan appointed if Shastri wasn't comfortable with them if at all the "process" of taking the coach into confidence isn't as farcical as the entire coach-selection saga has appeared to be?
