Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said on Friday that about 2.3 million individuals have already applied for engagement under the N-Power scheme.
Asked on the number of those engaged on the Programme, Osinbajo replied "Already 200,000 young people have been engaged. But for me, I think what is important is that we're able to do this incrementally and we're able to give hope to some of these young people who need the opportunity".
"All these talks about division, I think they are just fictions of the imagination but they have a objective which is to weaken this government... to ensure that we are distracted and I'm happy that we as a government, we are resolved that this is a very trying time of Nigeria and we must all put in our best to ensure that this country remains one".
Osinbajo stated that the target was 500,000 employees, "but depending on our resources, we can always do more".
According to him, the N-Power job is a learning programme and much more than an employment programme.
"It is unprecedented and I have not seen anything that compares with it anywhere in the world". "I want to encourage every Nigerian wherever they may be that we must stand together; we must be united", the Acting President said. So the whole idea is that they must be constant engagement with young people on the Programme.

"There is no way that you can engage the number of people that we are engaging, train the number of people that we are training without doing it electronically".
Osinbajo added:"But what I want to say to the young people working on this is that, that if we take the opportunity for instance if you look at the tablet given to them, the tablet contains so much information, so much learning material that one can really develop his skills in a wide variety of ways and be able to give himself greater opportunity".
"They are proving that we have gone to a different scale to do something entirely different". There is a problem if your BVN does not match the records you gave.
Mr Afolabi Imoukhuede, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and Youth Empowerment, said that the call centre was the back room operations of N-Power.
The Acting President also attended the 7th edition of the Federal Government Nationwide Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Clinic, held at the cultural centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, where he highlighted some of the government's policies meant to stimulate economic development.
This is done by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy. President Osinbajo hails job creation scheme appeared first on Vanguard News.
