Gangnam Style loses YouTube crown

11 Juillet 2017

Psy performs "Gangnam Style" onstage at the MTV EMA's 2012 at Festhalle Frankfurt on November 11, 2012 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The South Korean megahit had been the site's most-played clip for the last five years.

At 2.894 billion views, Psy's video has been quietly eclipsed by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's music video for "See You Again", which has 2.895 billion views at the time of writing. In 2014 it "broke" YouTube's play counter and forced the company to rewrite its code.

See You Again, YouTube's most popular video, now has nearly 3 billion views - 2,895,724,605 to be exact; and that number is certain to keep rising as fans' love for the touching tribute will not be fading anytime soon.

The Raiders host the Chiefs on October 19 for a Thursday night game and will travel to Kansas City on December 10. And it's worth noting that Peters is also from Oakland.

If we're going to make a calculation, See You Again was watched for 21.759 years, which is insane. The visuals include a tribute to Paul Walker, the star of the franchise who passed away in 2013.

YouTube has a new all-time chart-topper: Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again feat". It was also the best selling song of 2015 worldwide!

Luis Fonsi's summer smash Despacito has racked up 2.5 billion views in just six months, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

Puth previously revealed that he never expected the song, which hit the 2 billion in September 2016, to receive such a positive response when he first wrote the hook.
