Abbas visits Egypt for talks on Palestinian issue

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed in a Cairo meeting late Saturday with Palestinian Authority Leader Mahmoud Abbas the latest news regarding the peace process, a statement from the ministry statement read.

The delegation accompanying Abbas includes Maged Farah, the Palestinian intelligence chief.

According to Wafa, Abbas met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri at the presidential palace Cairo, when the Palestinian president updated Shukri "on the latest developments of the Palestinian cause", as well as "ongoing efforts to recruit global support" for ending the Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territory, particularly escalating settlement expansion.

He expressed appreciation of Egypt's efforts to back the Palestinians in all regional and global meetings and to push for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state to live side by side with Israel based on the 1967 borders.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visited Egypt on Saturday for talks with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Palestinian issues, state news agency MENA reported.
