This year marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and we expect Apple to bring a revolutionary redesign to the series with a full-screen device with all-out features: we don't know the official name yet, but let's refer to it as the Apple iPhone 8.
According to Kuo, "The ultrasonic fingerprint recognition installed on Vivo's prototype model should be the latest 2.1 version which, compared with the previous version, offers better scan-through and can distinguish between real fingers and artificial clones". The hardware can also detect a user's heart rate and blood flow.

In addition, Kuo points out that mass production for these sensors can be hard thanks to the differences in screen material and thickness used on smartphones. "Thus, handset brands may be less compelled to adopt the ultrasonic solution as long as risks persist".
Lastly, Kuo concluded by saying that, there is in fact, no clear mass-production timeline for Vivo's showcase of Qualcomm's under-display fingerprint recognition. As screen size has become an increasing emphasis for current-generation smartphone manufacturers, many have looked at eliminating physical fingerprint sensors in a bid to maximize available screen space on the phone. That said, Kuo's report apparently doesn't clarify whether or not the fingerprint sensor will just be entirely removed (as other rumors have suggested) or placed on the back of the device.
Last week Qualcomm announced what seemed like the successor to their Sense ID technology in form of the Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensor. One of the major drawbacks of using a under-display sensor right now is that it reportedly doesn't scan quite as fast as a capacitive fingerprint scanner. However, several analysts have reported on supply chain and development problems with the sensor that could keep it from being included in time for the iPhone 8's expected fall 2017 launch.
