Xscape reunites for performance at BET Awards

"I didn't prepare a speech because I wanted to see what would happen when I got up here and try and speak from the heart".

Top stars of music, TV, film and sports came together Sunday night to celebrate summer's first official award show: the 2017 BET Awards.

"Ever since then, BET has shown me nothing but love and support of my career throughout the years", Mars said in his acceptance speech.

The group hit the stage after receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I just want to thank BET for my teenage years, giving me images of queens like Missy Elliot and Lil' Kim and Aaliyah and Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill and Kelis and Reese, and the list goes on", she said.

Four Nigerian artistes - Davido, Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Tekno - were nominated for the 2017 BET Awards.

Remy Ma ended Nicki Minaj's seven-year winning streak for best female hip hop artist at the BET Awards and further extended a rivalry that has been going on for years.
