India is among nations singled out by the Trump administration for their trade surpluses with the US, which in India's case totaled $30.8 billion in 2016. "All of this is an additional expression of Israel's enhanced global position in recent years as we strengthen the state of Israel", Netanyahu said.
"While Indian businesses continue to benefit from open United States markets, India has failed to eliminate, or even address concretely, multiple trade and investment barriers that have been the focus of recent bilateral and multilateral fora", the letter said.
Highlighting the GST move of his government, Modi said: "The implementation of the landmark initiative of GST could be a subject of studies in United States business schools".
Foreign investors too have been eagerly looking forward to the rollout of the single pan-India GST, which will replace the existing myriad central and state levies on both goods and services. The agreements signed included cooperation in outer space, double taxation avoidance, nano technology, improving cultural ties, youth and sports, higher education and scientific research, and Portugal-India business huband Indian Chamber of Commerce.
The Prime Minister added that "1.25 crore equally talented Indians are there back in India, they are now getting supportive environment and soon we will develop India soon".
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrived in the United States on Sunday, on the second leg of his three-nation tour, said India has now emerged as a business-friendly destination, more so with the upcoming implementation of landmark GST beginning next month, while asking CEOs of top U.S. companies to invest in the country.
The list of CEOs included top names like Apple chief Tim Cook. "We held extensive discussions on opportunities in India", PM Modi tweeted after the meeting that lasted for about 90 minutes.

While progress is expected in defence trade and cooperation, Trump, who campaigned on an "America First" platform has been irritated by the growing USA trade deficit with India and has called for reform of the H1B visa system that has benefited Indian tech firms.
Modi-Trump meeting likely to be low-key
With Trump looking to revitalize American businesses, India's desire to buy U.S. arms could go down well with the administration. Trump posted on his official (@POTUS) Twitter handle.
One US official said the two leaders had a lot in common and noted Modi would be the first foreign dignitary to have a working dinner at the White House under the new administration.
Modi, 66, has made his reputation as a strong - some say authoritarian - leader who has made his country's economic progress the hallmark of his administration, trotting the globe to drum up foreign investment.
"I don't think PM Modi can change Trump's worldview".
Trump's description of PM Modi as a "true friend" has already set the tone for a productive maiden meeting between the two leaders. Despite these meetings and beyond two friendly phone calls between Modi and Trump, it remains unclear where U.S. -India relations are headed from here.
Yet that close relationship has yet to materialize, due to a mix of transition dysfunction, the distractions of the urgent and a shortage of senior Trump administration officials with India experience.
Both leaders will be reading out a statement after their one-on-one meeting at the White House, but will not be taking questions from the media afterwards.
"Many sectors of the Indian economy remain highly and unjustifiably protected, and India continues to be a hard place for American companies to do business", they wrote.
