India Celebrates the Third International Yoga Day -2017 Today

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been successful in giving an global recognition to yoga, that has the quality to help people get over the biggest of problems".

As many as 190 countries across the world are observing the International Day of Yoga today.

Modi said since the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day for Yoga, awareness about yoga had been rising the world over leading to creation of a new job market.

"I am happy to see so many Yoga institutes being opened over the last three years".

Prime Minister Modi also said in Lucknow that "it is not important to perform yoga for 24 hours". He said that the regular practice of yoga helps in promoting fitness of mind and body leading to a attractive life.

The honorable prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and governor Ram Naik attended a state-level event held in the morning. He added, "The International Day of Yoga is being celebrated in villages, small towns and major cities around the world and has now become like a major festival". "Today the world is practising yoga without any religious bias".

But not everyone was enthusiastic - an influential hardline Islamist group in Bangladesh called for Muslims to boycott a yoga event organised by the Indian High Commission (embassy). In India, alone, there will be some 5,000 events to mark the third edition of the yoga day.

The first International Yoga Day was marked on June 21, 2015.

He said that yoga is an integral part of the Indian tradition and it unites the country.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed several yogic exercises at an event organized in Lucknow.

After concluding his speech, Modi walked to an enclosure and performed yoga with almost 100 students. "The yoga mat was wet and slippery and water puddles were all around", the 18-year-old student Neha Prakash said.

PM Modi said that yoga was acting in a big way to bond people and the global community.

The Yoga day was also obsereved at INS Vikramaditya, the largest warship operated by India.

To mark the third International Yoga Day, enthusiasts all over the world took to the holistic form of well-being.
