Eid al-Fitr\'s meaningful vision exceeds religious

In his Eid'l Fitr message, Duterte noted that the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal always brings great joy to the Muslim brothers and sisters.

President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday wished the countrymen on Eid-ul-Fitr, hoping the festival brings prosperity to all and also strengthens "faith in our unity and common destiny" that characterises India's composite culture.

Wishes also poured on Twitter from political leaders, celebrities and sportspersons. The timing of Eid ul-Fitr is based on the Islamic lunar calendar.

Eid-ul-Fitr is in fact described amongst the masses in UP and the Hindi heartland as "meethi Eid", the sweet festival literally, synonymous with sweet seviyan.

Muslims across the country are celebrating Eid-al-Fitr, the festival marks the culmination of fasting and the holy month of Ramzan, today.
