Mueller hasn't chose to investigate Trump for obstruction

23 Juin 2017

On Friday, Trump tweeted that he is "being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

In case you missed that, here is what Donald Trump's lawyer said (emphasis mine). Now, it seems, it is indeed changing. On Meet the Press, he said, "But when you see a tweet, okay, or a utilization of social media, and the president has, I mean, his social media reach is over a hundred million".

Sekulow ended up contradicting both himself and Trump, in a debate with Fox News host Chris Wallace over whether Trump was actually under investigation. Kilmeade said. "You're his lawyer". Specifically, Schiff wanted to know if former FBI Director James Comey would have opened an investigation into Trump's campaign "lightly or on mere hunch". The Post cited multiple unnamed sources familiar with those interview requests.

Is the president being investigated?

This is the whole story in a nutshell: Trump has not been notified that he's the target of an investigation. Rumors have run rampant about such an investigation after James Comey was sacked from his post very suddenly, leading to dramatic series of events which included Comey's testimony.

Now Mueller faces a huge decision.

But the more frustrated that Trump gets, the more he often hurts himself politically. "What's being said right now is that the special counsel is looking at everything, including the circumstances around Comey's firing".

Tropical Storm Cindy Brings Rain and Possible Flooding
Alabama saw a tornado in Fairfield, a small city in Birmingham's metropolitan area, less than 10 miles west of the city proper. For folks to the south and east of Cincinnati, the heaviest rain is expected during the late afternoon and early evening.

When he held the position of Federal Bureau of Investigation director, Comey was obliged to report to his immediate superior, the attorney general, Sessions, who in turn was obliged to report to the president. Trump's tweet about the witch hunt only served to confirm the reports.

Sekulow defending Trump was nothing new.

"Okay, well good, we're in agreement", noted Wallace.

Sekulow made numerous same arguments on the Sunday news shows, though he told Fox News Sunday that he couldn't read Mueller's mind and that he couldn't say with 100 percent certainty that Trump wasn't being investigated.

Last Thursday, the Washington Post published a sensational report that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was investigating President Trump for obstruction of justice. Public perception aside, being the subject of an investigation is also debilitating because of the time it takes to defend oneself, the financial burden of retaining lawyers (and, for a public official, retaining press agents who can deal with the media frenzy), and the anxiety that makes it hard to focus on one's job and other responsibilities.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has become the latest senior Trump administration official to hire a private attorney, a Justice Department spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

"My constituents are prosecutors, judges and juries", said criminal defense lawyer Bill Jeffress.
