Celtic to open Scottish Premiership title defence against Hearts

23 Juin 2017

Celtic will begin their title defence at home to Hearts when the 2017-18 Scottish Premiership season kicks off on 5 August.

Celtic, who went unbeaten throughout last season, travel to Ibrox for the first meeting between the two Glasgow sides on Saturday 23.

The Scottish Premiership fixtures have been released for 2017/18, with the first Old Firm fixture due to take place in September.

The Dons manager has lost five of his key men from a year ago but hopes to have quality replacements in place by the time his Pittodrie side get their season under way with their opening day home clash with Hamilton.

Tottenham waiting for lowered price on Ross Barkley
Barkley, 23, burst onto the Goodison Park scene six years ago - tipped to be the latest Merseyside superstar since Wayne Rooney. The 23-year-old is blessed with vast potential and Pochettino could certainly be the man to unearth it.

Neil Lennon's Leith outfit will also host the first Edinburgh derby duel of the new campaign on Wednesday, October 25.

That fixture is certain to be packed with spice following the controversial scenes that followed the capital club's 2016 William Hill Scottish Cup final triumph over Gers.

Pedro Caixinha's men will then finish the month on the road with a trip to face Ross County on the weekend of August 26th.
