Amazon Echo Show will finally put Alexa's skills on display

23 Juin 2017

The announcement is the result of a development project wherein IC Realtime's R&D team worked with Amazon's camera API to integrate more than 100 existing IC Realtime surveillance cameras to enable live video to stream to the Echo Show. This was what we believed would make its Echo Show device a hit when it was launched with all its view and show skills last month.

In addition to thousands of book titles, the Manhattan store also carries Amazon products like Kindle and the Echo smart speaker, a product that has drawn competition from Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google and whose market is also being eyed by Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple (AAPL). You can pre-order an Echo Show from Amazon for $229.99.

Echo Show users will be able to use Alexa to interact with these cameras - saying, for example, "Alexa, show me the front door", to see a live feed from the camera on the device's 7-inch touch-screen.

One of those promised use cases was the ability to watch your smart home's cameras, Amazon had said. "With our skill for Alexa, customers don't have to take out their phones and open the Ring app to see their camera feed".

Senate GOP health bill would cut Medicaid, erase tax increases, reports say
When a reporter asked if the president would support the defunding of Planned Parenthood , Sanders responded, "I'm not sure". He said on Wednesday he wanted a health plan "with heart". "And the tax credits in the bill will also be better designed".

Similarly, smart lock maker August says that Alexa will now be able to talk to its August Doorbell Cam.

NETGEAR has also built an Alexa skill to enable customers to simply ask for a live view of any of their Arlo cameras. "The Alexa integration offers yet another level of value to EZVIZ customers, all they have to do is ask Alexa to show them a room and they immediately have visual access".

One statement that all the vendors made when announcing their own integrations today was how much better an experience this was for customers using their products, compared with having to pull out your smartphone. Unlocking the phone and fiddling around with apps just isn't as simple as speaking out loud. It "brings you everything you love about Alexa, and now she can show you things [like] video flash briefings and YouTube, see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more".

Smart camera connectivity: The speaker can be connected to other smart cameras and show you a feed from them.
