Reality Winner's attorney, Titus Nichols, told NPR Wednesday his client would fight accusations from the federal government that she illegally leaked information to a news outlet while working for a private contractor.
Winner's lawyer told Martin that during today's hearing, he plans to request that she be released on bond pending trial.
The FBI. claims that victor confessed when she was confronted with the charges, and the Department of Justice announced that this is the first criminal leak case in President Trump's term.
"The important thing is making sure she receives a fair trial".
Meanwhile, Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis, told the Guardian newspaper, "I never thought this would be something she would do".
She added: "I fear that there's anger from the top toward her and I fear that something bad is going to happen". FILE - In this June 6, 2013 file photo, the National Security Agency (NSA) campus in Fort Meade, Md.
She was a contractor with Pluribus International Corporation, a company providing analytical and engineering services to the federal, defense, security, and intelligence community. But the Justice Department announced Winner's arrest Monday as The Intercept reported it had obtained a classified National Security Agency report suggesting Russian hackers attacked a US voting software supplier before last year's presidential election. He said the agency that housed the report was able to identify six people - including victor - who had made copies of the report.
Victor is accused of printing the classified intelligence reporting May 9 and mailing it to the news outlet a few days later, according to the federal complaint.
The NSA also conducted an internal audit to find out that six people had printed out the secret report - but only victor had been in touch with The Intercept by email through her work computer.
Solari told the judge that victor had admitted to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents during her arrest that she sought out classified information.

In her interview with NBC News, her mother said she has "difficulty believing that she actually did what they're saying that she did". She did use her Facebook page to speak freely about politics, including some scathing opinions on President Donald Trump. "They took her by surprise".
The US attorney also alleged that victor once searched on her work computer, while she was still in the Air Force, for the phrase: "Do top secret computers detect when flash drives are inserted?"
Victor started working at a Georgian government facility in February as an employee of Pluribus International, a firm based in Alexandria, Virginia.
Winner-Davis said that despite the allegations she remains "a proud mom".
Nichols cast doubt on the government's side of the story, and as for the alleged confession, he said, "The bigger issue is: Was my client interrogated without her attorney?"
