That the University of Washington point guard worked out for the Sixers was an indication that the team was close to acquiring from the Celtics the only ideal fit in the National Basketball Association draft. The Redick rumors could pick up steam after the National Basketball Association draft. The agreement between the Celtics and 76ers was struck not long after Fultz worked out for Philadelphia on Saturday evening.
Early Sunday, word was the two teams had reached a deal and Philly would have the No. 1 pick.
The Celtics will get an additional first-round pick in the 2018 or 2019 draft in exchange for moving down two spots in the first round this year.
There will, of course, be more details to come.
Now, who knows what the team at No. 3 - the Celtics or otherwise - does in that situation. That pick could be a protected pick in 2021. Getting the No. 1 pick was not an easy thing for the 76ers.
The Sixers plan to take Washington guard Markelle Fultz, but it is not known yet what the Celtics will do with No. 3 - Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox, Kansas' Josh Jackson, Duke's Jayson Tatum and North Carolina State's Dennis Smith are viable options.
Trump Reports Hundreds of Millions in Financial Liabilities

Don't be surprised if Ainge makes more moves this week.
If it indeed goes through, the Sixers are expected to use the pick on the youthful Fultz, who played one season as the starting point guard at the University of Washington and wound up leading the PAC-12 with a 23.2 points per game scoring average.
For Philadelphia, the move is a no-brainer.
Philadelphia 76er teammates Robert Covington, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid pose for a post-workout picture with projected No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz. Jackson would seem to overlap quite a bit with Jaylen Brown, whom the Celtics acquired with the third overall pick in the 2016 draft-both are athletic small forwards who thrive with the ball in their hands, and both have cool hairdos that make them seem taller than they are.
On top of Knight's awful 2016-17 season, the Lakers pick has finally been put to its proper use by the Sixers. They're like the young Timberwolves team we've been expecting, but if they added yet another piece. Last season, they won 28 games compared to the less than 20 wins during the past three seasons.
The biggest move is already almost complete, with a big trade for the No. 1 overall pick is set to shake up the top of the NBA Draft board.
Talks between Celtics President Danny Ainge and 76ers General Manager Bryan Colangelo progressed rapidly late last week, with 76ers management reportedly putting higher value on Fultz than the Celtics. They can offer the No. 1 pick for the No. 2 pick along with a big man like Julius Randle or Larry Nance Jr.
