Trump says no one has any proof on Russian Federation

19 Juin 2017

Members of President Donald Trump's Blue Ribbon legal team and his allies are briefing a case that former FBI Directors Robert Mueller and James Comey have a long professional and personal, relationship that creates a conflict of interest, notwithstanding Mr. Mueller prior reputation of integrity.

Rosenstein took command of the investigation in early March, when Sessions announced that he was recusing himself due to his substantial role in Trump's presidential campaign previous year.

Those private remarks from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein are significant because they reflect the widening nature of the federal probe, which now includes a preliminary inquiry into whether President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice when he allegedly tried to curtail the probe and then fired James Comey as FBI director.

It was a memo written by Rosenstein that was originally used by the White House as justification for Comey's firing. By needlessly firing Comey and tweeting recklessly about it, Trump single-handedly turned his Russian Federation problem - a "cloud" over his administration, he reportedly told Comey - into a much bigger problem.

Mueller's investigation is still in a relatively early phase, and it is unclear if any criminal charges will be brought when it is complete.

Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Trump had directed him to drop an agency investigation into Flynn.

The Justice Department's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election is looking at Kushner's multiple roles in the Trump administration, including the Trump campaign's 2016 data analytics operation; his relationship with former national security adviser Michael Flynn; and Kushner's own contacts with Russians, according to United States officials briefed on the probe.

Thirty-six policemen were injured on Saturday in clashes with the GJM supporters. "Nobody should resort to violence", he added. The strike was called even after the Chief Minister assured that the new rule would not be imposed in the hill districts.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has privately acknowledged he may need to recuse himself from matters relating to the Russian Federation probe, given that he could become a potential witness in the investigation, ABC News reported on Friday, citing unnamed sources. Rosenstein, however, privately told people at the Justice Department if circumstances would change, he would reconsider recusing himself. Trump has expressed increasing dissatisfaction with the Justice Department since Mueller's appointment.

The Democratic National Committee said it saw a need for Rosenstein to recuse himself, but it said control over the investigation should be given to Mueller and not another Trump appointee. But she said today, as she has said before, that while the president has the power to fire Mueller he has no intention of doing so.

The special counsel's investigators are looking into questions of Russian interference in last year's election, and plan to speak to senior intelligence officials, a source familiar with the matter told CNN. They have tried to highlight the positive reviews he received Wednesday when he made a statesman-like appearance in the White House to address the nation after Rep. Steve Scalise was shot during a congressional baseball practice. Trump said in a tweet.

In an earlier tweet on Friday, Mr Trump wrote that nobody has been able to show any proof of "collusion with the Russians". "Sad!" he wrote in one post.

Even before the special counsel's inquiry has begun in earnest into links between the Trump campaign and Moscow, the team Robert Mueller is building provides clues about which way the investigation is heading. They are Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign manager; Rick Gates, Manafort's business partner; Carter Page, a former foreign policy adviser; Flynn; and Roger J. Stone Jr., an informal adviser to Mr. Trump. Flynn was sacked for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of a call with the Russian ambassador to the United States.
