The spokesman also accused high-profile women's rights attorney Gloria Allred of conspiring against Cosby.

Excoriated by the defense for charging Cosby in the first place, District Attorney Kevin Steele vowed to put him on trial a second time, saying accuser Andrea Constand supported the decision. But her lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said that Constand is "a very spiritual person".

The decision, Steele told the court, "lies in the fact that she's entitled to a verdict in this case". Dozens of other women have accused Cosby, now 79, of molesting them decades ago, and 10 have lawsuits pending against him. She claimed Cosby drugged and fondled her at his home.

BLOCK: The prosecution has said they will retry the case?

Cosby says his sexual encounter with Constand was consensual. This particular case was for his alleged sexual assault against Andrea Constand.

The jury tells the judge that it "cannot come to a unanimous consensus on any of the counts". In other words, although Cosby's attorneys had the distinct tone of a victorious team on Saturday, the final outcome is far from over.

Steele declined comment on a statement from Cosby's wife, Camille, which called him "heinously and exploitively ambitious". She also reports during the week for NBC5 News at 5 and 6. Overtly arrogant in collaborating with the district attorney.

If the jury can not break its impasse, the judge would have to declare a mistrial. "It has been restored".

As the mistrial was declared , Cosby sat at the defence table with his chin held high, a flat, blank look on his face. She indicated that "she is going to cooperate with us moving forward", Steele said. "It's too early to celebrate Mr.

Cosby lawyer Brian McMonagle fired back that jurors might be under the assumption they have to deliberate until "the cows come home". Prosecutors have suggested he might have given her quaaludes.

But the jurors clearly struggled with their verdict, telling the judge on day four they were at an impasse.

But O'Neill gave them a special instruction required by law and sent them back to deliberate to see if they could settle their differences and reach a verdict.

Jurors who have appeared stressed and even angry seemed more upbeat as they left court outside Philadelphia Thursday night than on previous nights, despite enduring another marathon session.

'How do I describe the judge?

I feel for Constand because clearly it's not easy to take such an allegation to court.

The defense side in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial is declaring victory and going on the attack after jurors deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial. So the mistrial means Cosby will walk out of the courthouse, and his case will remain unsolved.

Andy Lassner, executive producer of The Ellen Show, wrote " I BELIEVE YOU" to the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault. Cosby was charged shortly before the statute of limitations was set to expire.

"Our plan is to move this case forward as soon as possible", he said, just after the jury found itself hung following five days of deliberations. "If a jury says so forth and so on, there's still public opinion", he said. "'Probably' does not win criminal trials". Constand has done so.
