Since then speculations were making rounds on the internet about some strict action board may suggest to the management.

Kalanick told employees about his decision Tuesday in a memo and said that he needed time off to grieve for his mother, whom he buried on Friday. Holder recommended that Uber use performance reviews to hold senior managers accountable by setting metrics for improving diversity and responsiveness to employee complaints. The company's diversity figures are similar to the rest of Silicon Valley, with low numbers for women and underrepresented minorities. She alleged that her former manager had propositioned her for sex and that Uber's human-resources department told her it wouldn't punish him because he was a top performer.

The company has also been reported to have been caught up in cases of intellectual property theft concerning their self driving vehicle service which has already resulted in the termination of Anthony Levandowski, the head of Uber's self driving service and faces a federal investigation for using a program called Greyball, which allowed Uber to evade law enforcement in areas where it is illegal.

An audio recording of Tuesday's meeting released by Yahoo Finance indicated some tense moments.

Foster calls on Sinn Féin 'to tango' with DUP in talks
Ms Foster dismissed suggestions her deal with the Tories threatened the peace process. "What would happen then?" she asked. Mrs Foster pointed out that the Belfast government had been out of office since January.

Liane Hornsey, Uber's chief human resources officer who started in January, said implementing the recommendations "will improve our culture, promote fairness and accountability, and establish processes and systems to ensure the mistakes of the past will not be repeated".

Kalanick's leave also coincided with the company board's review of the report submitted by the Eric Holder-led teams which aims at changing Uber's workplace culture and recommends decentralising power. In January, Kalanick dropped out of President Trumps economic advisory group before its first meeting after protests outside the company's headquarters, employee dissent, and a #DeleteUber backlash that inspired about 200,000 users to delete their accounts. During Kalanick's leave, his leadership team will run the troubled company. Uber has also admitted that it shortchanged drivers in NY by millions of dollars over the course of more than two years.

The company has faced concerns about its culture since Fowler's post. Uber's valuation has climbed to almost $70 billion.

A company can be aggressive yet have strong values, said Joseph Holt, a business ethics professor at the University of Notre Dame. Afterward, the San Francisco-based company ousted Emil Michael, Uber's head of business. Bonderman later resigned from the board after admitting that his untimely crack was "inappropriate". "I do not want my comments to create distraction as Uber works to build a culture of which we can be proud", the statement said.
