Son a doubt for start of Premier League season

His club will now monitor his recovery ahead of the new season.

Tottenham released a statement on their website on Thursday afternoon confirming Son needs an operation following further assessment and scans.

Tottenham have yet to move in the summer transfer market, but have been linked with Monaco forward Thomas Lemar.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star was clearly in some pain following the incident and of course had to leave the field of play - which was to the detriment of the rest of the team, who went on to lose the game 3-2.

The Korean hurt his arm while in action for South Korea in a World Cup qualifying match against Qatar in Doha on Tuesday and scans later confirmed that he had suffered a fracture.

No More Survivors Are Expected From London High-Rise Blaze, Fire Chief Says
Massive flames licked up the sides of the block as 200 firefighters battled the blaze for hours along with 40 fire engines. We are told that residents repeatedly raised concerns about fire safety but were reassured by the management organisation.

The forward was on worldwide duty with South Korea when a challenge with Qatar's Mohammed Musa after half-an-hour of their 3-2 defeat left him with a possible break.

Spurs have now confirmed that Son will undergo surgery on the injury on Friday this week.

Spurs were runners-up to Chelsea last season but ended the campaign with victory over Manchester United in the final home game before putting six past Leicester and thumping Hull 7-1.

Pochettino sees no reason why Tottenham should not expect to hit the ground running and start just as well as they finished the previous campaign.

Information from the Press Association was used in this report.
