Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus will not require surgery on a fractured eye socket inflicted by club team-mate Nicolas Otamendi in an global friendly on Friday.

The Brazil global forward suffered an injured eye socket in last week's game with Argentina following an aerial clash with his Etihad team-mate Nicolas Otamendi.

There were initially fears that Jesus would require surgery but the 20-year-old dismissed those fears.

"In 15 days I will be reassessed but all signs show that I will be back within three weeks! Thank you Dr Padura and team". Pep Guardiola's side begin their preseason programme with an International Champions Cup encounter against Manchester United at NRG Stadium in Houston on July 20.
