Warriors fans celebrate NBA title with rowdy street party

LeBron James scored 41 points and Kyrie Irving added 26 for the Cavs, who had won four straight potential elimination games against the Warriors before running out of gas in Game 5.

The win provided redemption for the Warriors, who brought Kevin Durant over from the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason to bolster their already high-powered offense.

"We learned from everything we've been through", Curry said during the trophy celebration. "I had a letdown last year but like I told everybody, If Kevin Durant was the consolation prize to lose thanks for that loss and we're the champs this year". Before Cleveland's 137-116 home victory in Friday night's Game 4, Golden State was a flawless 15-0 and had a chance to become the first National Basketball Association team to go unbeaten in the playoffs.

Fans hold up a banner during the second half in Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers at ORACLE Arena on June 12, 2017 in Oakland, California.

Durant stopped that surge with a three-pointer, but when James scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, the Warriors found themselves clinging to a precarious 98-95 lead.

"I'm not the GM of the team", James said. The Warriors hit five of six three-point attempts during that stretch, and Durant had 11 points, including consecutive threes, in that span.

The four-time league scoring champion and former NBA MVP added NBA champion and NBA Finals MVP to his resume Monday when he poured in 39 points on 14-of-20 shooting.

Trump fired Comey on May 9. "I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible". In a letter on Saturday, Sessions said that he wanted to answer questions raised during the Comey hearing.

"Well, it's a two-sided question because for me personally - I don't know", James said. Rookie Patrick McCaw had a couple of deft scoring plays (and an all-time wtf foul when Kyrie Irving tripped on his own get at me). So there was a measure of redemption as much for him as the Warriors, who lost to the Cavaliers previous year after beating them in 2015. Then it was Golden State's turn again, taking the title in five games.

Only one other player has ever averaged at least 30 points per game on 50 percent shooting from both the field and the three-point line, as well as at least 90 percent from the foul line. David West fought for the ball with Irving, then they got tangled up and Tristan Thompson entered the fray and he and West went at each other face-to-face.

"Absolutely not. Because everything I say, I know what I'm saying", Green said. He had 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the clincher. "I'm just so happy to be a part of it". The second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft was regular season MVP in 2014. West, Thompson and J.R. Smith received techs after a replay review. The Warriors put the team first, and in doing so, they did the unthinkable.

A 13-2 start out of the gates was marred by a three-game losing streak starting in late November when James announced the "honeymoon stage is over" for the Cavs.

Game 5 of the NBA Finals is underway, with the Warriors holding a 3-1 lead and hoping to close the series out Monday night at home.

Durant and Curry continued to slowly skip the lead out, getting it to double figures and then keeping it locked in throughout the final couple of minutes to ensure they would win the NBA Championship.
