Penguins seek refuge at home in Game 5

13 Juin 2017

The Penguins have again gotten to Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne.

The Predators are hardly blaming Rinne for their predicament.

Rinne returns to Pittsburgh, where he was shelled in the first two games of the series and is 0-5 with a 4.85 goals-against average and.833 save percentage over his National Hockey League career.

Nashville Predators head coach Peter Laviolette, center, talks with players during a timeout in the third period against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the NHL hockey Stanley Cup Finals Monday, June 5, 2017, in Nashville.

"We've got to get one more win now", Schultz said. "I think being here on the team since '08, the way that I've seen the game grow, our organization grow, our players stepping up and developing, I've at least gained a perspective that other people haven't".

Paging Mr. Maatta, Mr. Olli Maatta: Losses aren't on any one player, and Maatta's play isn't the main reason that the Penguins have lost two in a row, but when you are getting absolutely undressed in front of your net once per game, it doesn't help. The Penguins lead the series 2-1.

"They're obviously very good when they have the puck", Sullivan said. We know it's an exciting challenge. A bettor would have to wager $155 to earn a profit of $100 if the Penguins win the game. He also managed to pull through for the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals last season, after winning the first two games and losing Game 3. Pekka Rinne's game seemed to be in tatters and the Penguins fan base was musing whether it preferred a clean sweep or just a split of the two games in Nashville so the defending champions could raise the Cup on home ice. Neither Pittsburgh nor Nashville has yet won a game in the series whilst on the road.

Phil Kessel scored his eighth of the playoffs and added two assists, while Sidney Crosby tallied three assists. Hainsey's second goal of the playoffs came 16:40 into the period.

"It's disappointing, for sure", Rinne said.

It was a familiar showing for Rinne.

Bradley's early goal helps US tie Mexico, 1-1
The USMNT entered last night's game having just played Thursday night in Colorado, where it defeated Trinidad and Tobago , 2-0. As the match wore on, Hector Herrera and Jonathan Dos Santos did a better job of circulating the ball to wide areas quickly.

Pittsburgh is just 7-7 over its last 14 games and has been limited to just one goal in six of its past 11 - including the two losses in Nashville.

With the Stanley Cup Final tied at 2 and up for grabs, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators are two victories away from hoisting the Stanley Cup.

Wilson's dad, Carey, played 552 games with the Calgary Flames, New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers. He gave up two goals in the first 6:43 of the game and it never improved from there as h started the second period on the bench.

"If you've got a team that has momentum and a team that's got desperation, for me anyway, the scarier team is the one that's got desperation", Laviolette said. When they got behind us, they were able to do some damage off of that. "Our focus is really more concerned about just that one game in front of us".

It is 2-0 Pittsburgh less than seven minutes into Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against Nashville.

It's likely why he was among the few regulars to skate at an optional Penguins practice early in the Stanley Cup final. "We just had some breakdowns and mental lapses that cost us". The period ended 9-9.

In fact, the Predators were pleased overall with their play at PPG Paints Arena despite surrendering nine total goals in Games 1 and 2.

Crosby set up three of the first five Penguins' goals, got into a wrestling match with P.K. Subban that set the stage for Evgeni Malkin's back-breaking goal and also heaved a water bottle onto the ice to protest a slash on teammate Chris Kunitz from Predators' defenceman Mattias Ekholm.

The Penguins capped off their offensive rally with their sixth goal with 3:20 left in the second period. And Murray, for all of his struggles in Nashville, has still played great hockey all year long. Rinne needs a road win to put his team in position for its first Stanley Cup.

"When these guys play a committed, inspired game the way they do and they execute, then their talent and their instincts are going to take over", Sullivan said.
