Dem Senator Calls for Investigation into Loretta Lynch After Comey Testimony

12 Juin 2017

"The two have worked closely on the committee's review of matters related to Russian interference and the circumstances of James Comey's removal, including jointly seeking any White House tapes and the Comey memos", he said.

"I wanted Mr Comey to apply the same approach to the key question surrounding his interactions with President Trump", McCain added.

"Jim Comey's story has everything".

In the letter, Feinstein told Grassley she is "concerned" about Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats' and National Security Agency Director Admiral Rogers' refusals to answer questions from senators, adding that she wants to determine whether Trump asked Coats or Rogers "to take any action" on the Russian Federation investigation.

"It gave me the impression the attorney general was willing to align the way we talk with a political campaign", Mr. Comey said.

She, however, believes it's the Judiciary Committee that needs to investigate whether President Trump committed obstruction of justice when he allegedly asked Comey to back off his criminal investigation into former Trump aide Michael Flynn. That's why he jumped in and took over Loretta Lynch's job. "I want to know, was she going to authorize us to confirm we had an investigation?"

Senator Dianne Feinstein was reacting to comments made by former FBI Director James Comey during testimony on Capitol Hill that Lynch asked him to downplay the Clinton investigation.

According to Comey, Lynch's pushing didn't stop with her request.

"I think the biggest loser that came out of that was Loretta Lynch, and nobody saw that coming at all", DeWit said. "I don't know if it's fake or not, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation called me about this, John, and they said they wanted to brief me because I've got some of this wrong".

Feinstein, who is a member of the Senate Intelligence panel, said she would've also felt queasy. Was it before or after her meeting with Bill Clinton?

In an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union", Feinstein, the committee's top democrat, said she didn't know if Lynch was providing cover for the Clinton campaign, but said the request would have given her "a queasy feeling, too".

Current and former officials have said that Comey relied on the document in making his July decision to announce on his own, without Justice Department involvement, that the investigation was over.
