The Horned Frogs went 3-0 in the NCAA Regional to advance to the program's fourth consecutive and seventh overall NCAA Super Regional appearance.
"Big Game Howie" played a big part in that milestone in his final home game.
Behind an early offensive surge and a shutdown pitching performance from Brian Howard, TCU handed Missouri State a season-ending 8-1 setback Sunday evening to wrap up the Fort Worth Super Regional title at Lupton Stadium.
Howard, a senior from St. Louis University High, won his fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament start going back to last season, striking out 11 in 7 1/3 innings to help TCU become the first school since North Carolina (2006-09) with four straight trips to Omaha.
Last year, only three hosts won super regionals, and they combined to go 6-13.
Janczak (9-0) got the start for TCU, and he battled a risky Missouri State offense through 6.1 innings.
Howard hugged Schlossnagle on the mound when the coach came out to get him after the Missouri-bred pitcher struck out Bears home run leader Jeremy Eierman for the first out in the eighth. He finished with four straight hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. "It's just been the best four years of my life".
He left the game after walking a batter in the eighth inning, and the very next batter hit a home run to give TCU the lead and the win.
Horn Frogs catcher Evan Skoug extended the lead to 4-1 in the third, launching his second two-run homer in as many games in the Super Regional after a leadoff single by Zach Humphreys.
Steal and plunder in Klei's all new Grift Lands
Griftlands already has a page on Steam, which took a bit of thunder away from its planned debut at the PC Gaming Show. Klei Entertainment's presumably wonderful new game - does it make anything else? - has been revealed: Griftlands .
The magazine projects TCU linebacker Travin Howard, a senior who led the Big 12 in tackles last season (130), as a first-team All-American and the No. 2 player nationally at outside linebacker.
Hunter Steinmetz hit a homer for the Bears (43-20), who were trying for their second CWS berth. Other CWS participants include top-seeded Oregon State, Cal State Fullerton, Florida State/Sam Houston State and LSU/Mississippi State.
Davidson (35-25) starter Durin O'Linger threw 137 pitches in 8 2/3 innings and Westin Whitmire (3-4) went four innings in the loss. "We've left the program in a good state and we've taught the younger guys how to win. Hopefully they'll bring that with them for the next coming years".
In the ninth, Barzilli hit a three-run home run to cap off a ideal 5-0 start to the NCAA Tournament for the Horned Frogs.
TCU is making its fourth straight trip to the College World Series.
Florida State beat Sam Houston State 19-0, the largest margin of victory in a super regional, to complete a sweep.
A junior who is eligible for the major league amateur draft, Skoug moved into fourth on TCU's single-season list with his 20th homer and fourth in five postseason games this season, all TCU wins.
The Frogs have won all five of their games in the national tournament.
The home run put Skoug alone in fifth place all-time at TCU in career home runs (35) and runs batted in (161) in 193 games.
