Judge Steven O'Neill asked Cosby a series of questions created to make sure he was aware of his right to give evidence and was not pressured into deciding against it.
Jurors at Bill Cosby's sexual-assault trial don't know if they'll hear from him in person when the defense starts presenting its case Monday.
Prosecutors on Friday are in their second day of reading deposition excerpts to jurors at Cosby's sex assault trial.
Cosby testified in 2005 as part of her lawsuit, eventually settling the case for an undisclosed sum.
The brevity of the defense case contrasted with the presentation by prosecutors, who called 12 witnesses over five days of often emotional testimony. But it wasn't until Friday- on the fifth day of Cosby's trial - that jurors learned what was going through the comic legend's mind during those conversations. "There's no one. Just as I predicted last week", Gloria Allred said. Members of the audience, including some of Cosby's other accusers who are not testifying, have not even been allowed to leave the courtroom in the midst of proceedings for bathroom breaks without being blocked from re-entering.
Cosby arrived at court on Monday accompanied by his wife and business manager, Camille Cosby, who had not previously made an appearance at the trial.
Puerto Rico votes for statehood in referendum
US Congress has final say on any changes to the US territory's political status, regardless of the referendum's final outcome. Oscar Lopez Rivera participates in the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on 5th Ave. on Sun., June 11, 2017 in New York City.
According to portions of a deposition Bill Cosby gave in 2005 and 2006, he gave Constand Benadryl to "relax" her during a consensual sexual encounter. All but Constand's are too old to support criminal charges under the state's statute of limitations. "Mrs. Cosby has been supporting Mr. Cosby for the entire time they've been together for 53 years", he said.
Cosby, 79, is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Constand, 44.
Throughout the trial, Cosby's team has zeroed in on inconsistencies between the various statements, and Constand admitted on the stand that she had made mistakes in one of her accounts.
The trial would move to closing arguments on Monday if the defense decided not to put anyone on the stand.
Though he had announced last month that he would not take the stand in his own defense, Cosby and his defense team began reconsidered that strategy last week, as Deadline exclusively reported. Cosby is charged with sexually assaulting Constand at his suburban Philadelphia estate in 2004. Constand says she had to return calls from Cosby given her job and his status on campus. Cosby could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
"You changed your story", Agrusa told Constand in the Montgomery County Court as Cosby sat in court averting his gaze from his accuser. Comedic actors Lewis Dix Jr. and Joe Torry appeared with Cosby on Thursday. The prosecution also called on Constand's mother, a forensic toxicologist and a sexual assault expert.
