Stunned Celtics try to make sense of "embarrassing" loss

21 Mai 2017

Friday's 130-86 win over the Boston Celtics to go up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference finals was the Cavs' 13th straight playoff win dating to their comeback from down 3-1 to win the 2016 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

James, who was a plus-46 in the game (plus-63 in two games), dished out seven assists and added four rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots, while Kevin Love had 21 points and 12 rebounds and Kyrie Irving 23 points. The Cavs set franchise playoff records in points (130) and margin of victory (+44). As a team, the Cavs shot 56 percent from the field and 19 of 39 from the three-point line but this win was all about the Cavs' dominance in the first half where they built a 41-point lead which is the largest halftime lead in National Basketball Association postseason history. Tyronn Lue kept the starters on the court for the vast entirety of the first three quarters, setting up the lead to a unforgiving 50 points in the third, and then eventually resting the Big 3 in the 4th after their phenomenal performance scoring 74 points between the three of them.

Thomas played in the first half of Game 2 against the Cavs before being ruled out for the rest of the game with his team trailing by 41 points.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be looking to stay undefeated in these playoffs after making light work of the Celtics in Game 2. Celtics players rallied around the notion that they've rallied out of an 0-2 hole once already in these playoffs, against the Chicago Bulls. We understand that this is a good team.

After getting blown out in the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics didn't need any more bad news.

The Cavaliers managed to keep Isaiah Thomas in check as he finished with just 17 points and 10 assists.

The Cavs, who went 19 of 39 from 3-point range (Boston was 8 of 27), have never trailed in the first two games. The Celtics have certainly been knocked down, but they're not out yet. We played probably better than the score indicated in [Game 1], but we obviously played one of our worst games you could play [in Game 2]. Point blank, period, ' said Brown.

"It is embarrassing, like I said, but it's a game we lost", Bradley said. "I don't know what else you say in that moment".

The NBA announced three finalists - San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard, Oklahoma City Thunder's triple-double king Russell Westbrook and Houston Rockets guard James Harden. "But today I thought he looked much different in the first half. For him to have to sit is really hard", Stevens said, via ESPN. Several shots during the game caught the four-time Pro Bowler, he of the "Yo soy fiesta" line and infamous Party Ship, putting the "bro" in "brooding".
