Northampton police wearing bracelets to honor fallen officers

The lighting of blue lights on Monday night is part of a celebration of Peace Officers Memorial Day, a 55-year-old tradition started by former President John F. Kennedy, the Daily Mail reported.

Law enforcement officers all over the Mid-South are participating in and hosting various activities during National Police Week. Local officer says they were honored to show their support to families. Those 18 officers, along with fallen officers from years past, were remembered at Tuesday's memorial service at DPS Headquarters. "We remember these heroes because this is our modest way or repaying debt that can never be fully repaid", said sessions.

In humble appreciation of our hard-working law enforcement officers, Melania and I will light the White House in blue on May 15.

"Earlier today, the President had the honor of meeting with officers and guests from police departments that recently suffered the loss of a police officer from Ulster County Sheriff's Department, Phoenix Police Department, and the New State Troopers".

This weekend there was a candlelight vigil on the National Mall in Washington to mark the 394 names added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
