Roger Ailes, former Fox News chief, dies

19 Mai 2017

At least six other women have come forward with allegations against Ailes and top Fox News executives. O'Reilly has denied those accusations. The Left would command a monopoly control of the so-called "news" media but for the Fox News Channel, and FNC would not exist but for him. The fall that caused the injury had not been reported prior to Ailes' death and it was not immediately clear whether it had caused him to be hospitalized.

The architect of Fox News was also close to President Trump, to whom he gave a weekly slot on Fox & Friends - a show that the president has regularly touted in his tweets from the White House. They said there were no signs of foul play. "And may he rest in peace", the lawmaker told CNN's Chris Cuomo Thursday on "New Day". "His advice to Presidents Nixon and Reagan was historic and helped elect both", Gingrich tweeted.

Ailes died Thursday at age 77.

When Ailes bought The Putnam Country News and Recorder (PCNR) in 2008, he made Tilson its publisher.

Fox anchor Bill Hemmer, looking shaken, announced Ailes' death to his audience, ending his brief report by saying, softly, "Wow!"

Kimberly Guilfoyle, a co-host of Fox News' "The Five", called Ailes a "friend and mentor". "He was a genius".

Ailes went into politics when he started to advise President Richard Nixon on how to connect with television viewers.

Now, Republican Senator Marco Rubio was asked that same question. "We have two very different missions". Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Christopher Murphy of CT backed up Durbin's account of the briefing.

George H.W. Bush said Ailes "wasn't perfect" but called him "my friend".

"Regardless of the dark sides of his character, I can tell you - and I'm sure you guys have stories - fiercely loyal", Joe Scarborough said.

Fox personalities including Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham are remembering Roger Ailes.

Bush wasn't the only one to pay homage to Ailes. "RIP", Ingraham wrote on Twitter.

The founder of Fox News and longtime Republican political operative had a profound influence on American life, building Fox News into a powerhouse that transformed the media landscape and conservative politics.

"Apart from the presidents he served, he was arguably the single most important figure in the creation of modern conservatism", Mr David Greenberg, a Rutgers University political scientist, wrote in an essay for Politico past year. "Roger and I shared a big idea which he executed in a way no one else could have", Murdoch said. "Roger was a great patriot who never ceased fighting for his beliefs". Ailes resigned from his post leading Fox News last July, amid allegations of sexual harassment.
