Mr Ailes abruptly resigned from his positions as chairman and chief executive of the TV channel and Fox Business Network in July past year. One claim came from anchor Megyn Kelly, who left Fox for NBC, and who may have been the final force that ousted Ailes.
But accusations of Ailes' treatment of women would be his downfall.
News that Ailes would be stepping down as chairman rattled followers when Fox News co-founder Rupert Murdoch made the announcement during the summer of 2016.
Ailes was suffering from numerous and serious health problems, which we're told contributed to his death. They said there were no signs of foul play. With its slogan "Fair & Balanced", the network grew into not just the cable news ratings leader but a profound influence on the right wing of American politics.
"It provides a coda to the season of scandal we've had for the past 10 months", Folkenflik said, referring to the successive departures of Ailes, "O'Reilly Factor" host Bill O'Reilly and Fox News executive Bill Shine. "Roger Ailes was a close friend of mine and I'm going to miss him. His advice to Presidents Nixon and Reagan was historic and helped elect both".

He was taken to a hospital by attending paramedics.
No other details were announced.
"Roger shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years", the July statement read.
"Roger was a great patriot who never ceased fighting for his beliefs", the 86-year-old said in a statement.
