Warriors surge past Spurs in Game 2

17 Mai 2017

The Golden State Warriors dominated the San Antonio Spurs in game two of the NBA Western Conference Finals to take a commanding series lead on Tuesday.

Over the past few years, the Warriors have been known for one thing: they self-create a chip on their shoulders and take it out on the opponent. Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich eviscerated Warriors' Zaza Pachulia for being dirty on Monday. The NBA world called the Warriors' road to the Finals lucky after Leonard's injury (cough cough, Skip Bayless). Golden State shot 56 percent. The Spurs, who were 6-of-26 from the field at the time, scored only one more point than Curry after the first quarter. The actual numbers for you pedants are 136 to the homes and 100 to the guests, but unless you were giving 36½, you don't really care that much. It was so bad, Popovich didn't have anything more to say than "we didn't score", during his usual post-first quarter interview with Doris Burke.

Kevin Durant added 16 points and Draymond Green provided another strong all-around performance with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks. The Warriors have beaten teams by an average of 17.0 points through the first 10 games. By the fourth quarter, it was a blowout, but Spurs fans still could appreciate the fact that end of the bench players were able to get some playoff experience and show their talent.

San Antonio's depleted offense was led by Jonathon Simmons with 22 points.

The Spurs needed a big game from LaMarcus Aldridge offensively with Leonard out. "Game 3's going to be tough for us". Have a game, Stephen Curry! In the past three games, he's averaging 33.0 points and shooting 57 percent from the field and 49 percent from long distance.

Popovich will be looking for more of that in San Antonio for Games 3 and 4 against Golden State. "Unlike Game 1 we did that tonight".

Murder conviction of former Patriot Aaron Hernandez cleared
His suicide came just five days after he was acquitted in a double slaying in 2012. "He died a guilty man and a convicted murder". Quinn argued, "despite the tragic ending to Aaron Hernandez's life, he should not reap the legal benefits of an antiquated rule".

But it was the bench led the Warriors, even with the absence of Andre Iguodala. What a luxury for the Warriors.

Andre Iguodala sat the game out because of soreness in his left knee. The Dubs passed well and scored from distance, tallying up 39 assists and 18 three-pointers. McCaw likely see more minutes in these playoffs, and when Iguodala becomes a free agent this summer, the Warriors have his replacement ready to roll. The Spurs defense began to crack and the Warriors hit every single thing they looked at the it was starting to get out of control late in the quarter. Yet, he stayed at the hotel and wasn't even at Oracle Arena. The Spurs forward missed his first two jump shots and the night didn't get any better from that point on.

Klay Thompson, still struggling to find his steady shooting touch, had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. The Spurs need Aldridge to be a max contract guy tonight and he didn't seem like he was a worth a penny of that contract.

San Antonio tried out LaMarcus Aldridge, its second-best player. "We can't allow them to get off to the start they had last game".

Popovich said before the game Leonard was back at the hotel "ordering dinner". It was reminiscent of a pro wrestling match with the way the Warriors beat down the Spurs with no regard.
