Trump to 'Quickly' Replace FBI Director Comey

17 Mai 2017

White House officials initially said Trump acted on a Justice Department recommendation, but the president later said he would have fired Comey anyway, calling the former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief a "showboat".

On Friday, Trump tweeted in what could be construed as a threat that Comey had better hope none of his conversations with the president had been taped.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with flawless accuracy!.", he tweeted.

The tweets follow a report in the New York Times that Trump had asked Comey to pledge his loyalty to the president.

Trump's administration - embroiled in a deepening crisis over the sacking and its shifting explanation of events - will interview the first four candidates for the post on Saturday, US media reported. Trump said. "Again, the story that there was collusion between the Russians & Trump campaign was fabricated by Dems as an excuse for losing the election". That's according to two people familiar with the search process who weren't authorized to publicly discuss the deliberations and spoke on condition of anonymity.

"Sean Spicer, he's a wonderful human being, he's a nice man", Trump said. Tapes of John F. Kennedy in the Oval Office helped cement his reputation as a strong leader during multiple crises.

Heavy shooting was also heard in Daloa, a hub for the western cocoa-growing regions. Residents were forced to flee or stay indoors because of the violence.

"Trump admitted to firing FBI Director James Comey because of his investigation of the Trump campaign's Russian connections", Durbin, who is Senate Minority Whip, said in a statement.

"I also support Senator Durbin's call for Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to resign if he is unwilling to appoint a special counsel", she said.

Their comments come as concern grows over the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation. The president then turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him. "These investigations are far too important to risk disruption, delay or interference". "If his administration was concerned about the way that James Comey handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation, they had plenty of time to look into that and examine that in the months leading up to the inauguration and the first days of the administration itself".

A White House official has said Trump is considering 11 people to replace Comey.

And while Trump praised chief of staff Reince Priebus after the House passed a health care bill last week, associates say the president has continued to raise occasional questions about Priebus' leadership in the West Wing. Everything is on the up and up, though, because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recommended Comey's firing-the same Jeff Sessions who had to recuse himself from the Russia/Trump campaign investigation because he lied during his confirmation hearing.
