Oprah Winfrey Just Dropped Major Knowledge in a Commencement Speech

15 Mai 2017

Entertainment mogul Oprah Winfrey delivered a commencement address to hundreds of excited women at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia, in metro Atlanta, over the weekend.

"[That's] not necessarily religion".

According to Agnes Scott president Elizabeth Kiss, Winfrey embodies the college's mission of creating impactful, intelligent and successful women.

'She is a trailblazer in so many ways, ' Kiss said while announcing Oprah.

Winfrey also talked about the importance of helping others.

Oprah talked about the more than 37,000 interviews she has conducted on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" over the past 25 years and told the graduates to try and understand what other people might be going through. Rather, she emphasizes how she constantly viewed it as a form of service.

"When I was about 30 years old, I started to realize it was my whole life-not just parts of my life-was a prayer", Winfrey said.

The unidentified individuals attacked Cantin with a baseball bat, breaking his nose, and punched Manzo multiple times in the face. As they walked through the front door, they encountered two suspects who were already in the house, the station reports .

"Nobody wanted to come to breakfast", Oprah said.

"I had to learn to feel with others, which is what it means to be compassionate", she shared. "It means that despite everything that has happened to you, I feel your need to rise and I want to help you rise". I see myself in you'.

Sometimes, she said, her approach went too far: "I could feel what they were feeling so strongly sometimes it made me sick".

"You move forward by taking the next right step", she said.

Lastly, Winfrey told the crowd not to get hung up on material objects.

"The biggest reward is not financial benefit - though it's really good, you can get a lot of great shoes. Nothing wrong with great shoes".

During her speech, Oprah focused on the importance of "living a life of substance" and empathizing with others - especially those on the other side of the political divide. "But those of you who have a lot of shoes know that having great shoes - and a closet full of shoes, or cars, or houses or square footage - doesn't fill up your life".
