Fired by Trump, James Comey takes an outing to see a musical

15 Mai 2017

Former FBI Director James Comey made his first public appearance since getting fired by President Trump by attending a musical on Saturday.

Afterward, the couple met the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical and posed for a backstage photo in Washington, D.C., where "both said they were really emotionally affected by the show", star Kate Shindle said.

Comey later declined a Senate intelligence committee request to speak to the panel on Tuesday. The show tells the real-life story of a middle-aged woman, Alison Bechdel, a successful cartoonist writing her memoirs about two periods in her life, as a 10-year-old dealing with her father, and as a college student when she came out as a lesbian. It won a Tony Award in 2015 for best new musical.

'Dr Phil' to air interview with Aaron Hernandez's fiancee
Jenkins-Hernandez indicated that she and her daughter tried to visit Hernandez with their daughter at least once a week. Asked if she believed her fiancee was guilty of Lloyd's murder, Jenkins-Hernandez said, "I truly don't".

Comey was unexpectedly canned on Tuesday amid the FBI's probe into suspected Russian ties to Trump's presidential campaign. However, Democrats - and some Republicans - have questioned Trump's motives for firing Comey, since the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director was also investigating whether the Trump campaign had colluded with Russian officials to help influence the 2016 USA election.

"Their daughter saw the tour in Chicago and told them they had to see it", Whitman said.

Comey is not the only government official to go to the theater after enduring a public setback. Hillary Clinton has been spotted at a host of Broadway shows over the last several months since losing the 2016 election, including Sunset Boulevard and the final performance of The Color Purple.
