United States says it supports China's infrastructure connectivity plan

Chinese officials have said previously that "Belt and Road" is purely commercial, though Xi's comments Sunday indicated Beijing sees that as including a broad array of regulatory and other coordination with potentially far-reaching consequences.

During the address, Xi pledged to pump in an additional United States dollars 124 billion for projects that are part of the initiative.

Pakistani media reported that Chinese companies had "conducted survey and studies on the North Indus Cascade project.

We welcome all countries delegations to attend", the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement to Reuters. 'It features inclusive and sustainable growth and takes into account development needs of different countries and regions for common prosperity, ' he said.

In the run-up to the forum, China had sought to allay Indias concerns over the CPEC, saying that the project has no bearing on its stand on the Kashmir issue which should be resolved between India and Pakistan through dialogue.
