"Israel can offer to Korea some great solutions in this field, something which is getting more important, especially these days", he said, apparently referring to threats South Korea faces from North Korea's growing nuclear and missile arsenals.
But in a 25-minute conversation, Mr Moon and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said they hoped to meet at an early date and exchanged invitations to visit, according to both sides.
Experts believe that the North's latest calls are aimed at getting the new South Korean government to shift its direction from that of the previous government which focused on pressuring and sanctioning Pyongyang.
"President Trump and President Moon agreed to continue to strengthen the United States-Republic of Korea alliance and to deepen the enduring friendship between our two countries".
Moon has made no qualms about the fact he is keen on reviving the "sunshine policy", implemented by former South Korean leaders to bridge the failing relationship between the two nations in the Korean peninsula.
U.S. President Donald Trump, who spoke with Moon on Wednesday, this month opened the door to meeting North Korea's Kim Jong Un, saying he would be honored to meet Kim under the right circumstances. South Korea and the U.S. began deploying the THAAD system in March and it has since become operational. China denies it has done anything to hurt South Korean businesses.
