North Melbourne's Waite takes one-game ban

13 Mai 2017

NORTH Melbourne forward Jarrad Waite will miss the Roos' clash with the Swans after accepting a one-match ban for a risky tackle.

Playing his first game since round one, Waite kicked six goals in the Kangaroos' stunning 59-point rout of previously unbeaten Adelaide, but attracted the attention of the MRP with his second-quarter tackle on Tom Lynch.

The Crows forward was driven into the turf at Blundstone Arena and left the game with a concussion.

In the only suspensions out of round seven, both players' tackles were graded as careless conduct with medium impact to the head.

St Kilda midfielder Koby Stevens has also been offered a one-match suspension by the Match Review Panel for a unsafe tackle and is expected to accept the ban.

Late Friday, a Syrian opposition coalition, the High Negotiations Committee, denounced the deal in a strongly worded statement. A spokesman for the Jaish al-Nasr rebel group told Reuters fighting broke out in Hama shortly after midnight.

He can accept a one-game suspension with an early plea, but risks two games if he challenges the charge at the tribunal and fails.

But the MRP deemed all contact made was below that necessary to attract a charge.
