Edmonton and Anaheim mayors bet beer, tourism promotions on playoff series

Having lost the first two games at home the Anaheim Ducks must be feeling deja vu, past year they found themselves in a similar situation in their 1st round series against the Nashville Predators.

Cody McLeod's second-period goal was the eventual game-winner as Nashville earned a 3-1 win against St. Louis.

The Oilers are taking a 2-0 series lead back to Edmonton this evening for game three of the best of seven.

The Ducks opened a 3-0 first-period lead then promptly coughed it up in a wild second. They'll still need to win three of four games to advance to the Western Conference Final, with two games still to play at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Mark Letestu scored two power-play goals and Cam Talbot made 33 saves as Edmonton seized home-ice advantage from the Ducks with a four-goal final period.

The Ducks may want to consider refocusing their attention to another young Oilers standout if they plan to even the series in Game 2 on Friday night at Honda Center.

The Oilers are on their way home for game three of their second round series with the Ducks. Patrick Eaves scored his second goal of the playoffs at 9:22 on a rebound off a Brandon Montour shot, and Jakob Silfverberg converted a goalmouth scramble for his third goal of the postseason.

Rickard Rakell got Anaheim on the scoreboard 25 seconds in, and Chris Wagner and Ryan Kesler also scored.

Talbot was stellar in Game 2 with 39 saves, but the Ducks got to him early scoring on two of their first three shots of the game.

Elsewhere, Jughead is sent to live with a foster family and is relocated to South Side High School where he feels like he belongs. Soon thereafter, the Riverdale police discovered that the Blossom family fortune came from the heroin trade, not maple syrup.

Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler, who returned to the lineup after missing the entire Calgary series, knows that the path to victory needs to come by giving the talented Oilers fewer chances to score with the man advantage.

He played to the end of the second period but did not play the third. "We kept it going". And while past stats don't necessarily predict the future, it's at least worth noting this is the eighth time in franchise history that the Ducks have fallen behind 2-0 in a series. He also picked up shutouts in the Oilers' first two wins over San Jose in the opening round, jump-starting their postseason run.

"We fought back and got a big one from Wagner". With the series now tied at one game apiece, the Predators will need him to recapture his earlier brilliance as they host the Blues for Game 3. Defensively, the Edmonton Oilers are allowing 2.5 goals per game and are killing 80.7 percent of their opponents power plays.

"You can see on the bench, we didn't panic" after Anaheim tied it, Larsson said.

Unfortunately the Oilers got a generous bounce in the last minute of the period. Patrick Maroon, who rounds out the top line, was quick to compliment Draisaitl's vision and passing, which was evident in the second-round opener when he found a trailing Adam Larsson to set up a third-period goal.

"We're getting five, six power plays a night (against us), and we're not doing well on the penalty kill", Getzlaf said. "We don't have a ton of it", McDavid said after Edmonton's morning skate on Wednesday.

Getzlaf beat Talbot with a wrist shot from the hashmarks with 8:09 remaining in the first.

Kevin Bieksa remains sidelined due to lower body injury. He had eight points (six goals, two assists) in five games against the Ducks during the regular season.
