"It was a very poorly officiated game".

Memphis shot only 15 free throws despite attempting 35 shots in the paint, compared to San Antonio's 32 free throw attempts.

Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Carter (15) is held by teammate Brandan Wright (34) after he was called for a technical foul during the first half in Game 2 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Long after the buzzer sounded on the Memphis Grizzlies' Game 2 loss to the San Antonio Spurs to drop to a two-game deficit in the teams' first-round series, first-year head coach David Fizdale was still coaching. They shot 11 times in the paint, but they had 23 free throws. Game three is Thursday at FedExForum at 8:30 p.m.

Adding to Fizdale's consternation was the fact that Memphis rallied from a 26-point deficit in the second half and had an opportunity to win after a 29-point blowout in Game 1. Some Grizzlies' sponsors have already said they would pay any fine Fizdale might have incurred from these comments, so his wallet might not take a hit.

The Spurs' Kawhi Leonard attempted more free throws (19-of-19) than the entire Memphis squad (13-of-15). Kawhi shot more free throws than our whole team.

"We don't get the respect that these guys deserve because Mike Conley doesn't go insane". I know Pop's [Spurs coach Gregg Popovich] got pedigree, and I'm a young rookie. That's unacceptable. That was unprofessional. "My guys dug in that game and earned the right to be in that game, and they did not even give us a chance".

Memphis scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to crawl to within 75-71 but the Spurs responded with a Leonard jumper and a Parker 3-pointer to create a little breathing room.

The Grizzlies forced seven turnovers while outscoring the Spurs 34-19 in the opening 16 minutes of the second half, with Conley, Gasol and Randolph accounted for 21 points. Conley, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph accounted for 21 points. Leonard made sure of that. "They shot 18 times in the paint and had 32 free throws".

It's unclear why the text came at 4 a.m., but nonetheless, players appreciated Fizdale's message.

After getting free throwed nearly into submission, Grizzlies battle back from 26 down to cut Spurs lead to 4 with time running out.
