Here's What Trump's 'Buy American, Hire American' Order Means

20 Avril 2017

Trump made it clear that this order declares that American projects should be made with American goods.

The order he will sign on Tuesday will call for "the strict enforcement of all laws governing entry into the United States of labor from overseas for the stated goal of creating higher wages and higher employment rates for workers in the United States", one of the senior officials said.

"Buy American and hire American", Trump said at a rally in Des Moines. "We have to make sure that coding is integrated into the curriculum from day one that a student enters into a classroom really".

"Buy American, hire American".

However, the business community has voiced concerns that the revamp could hamper USA companies' ability to attract top talent and, in turn, hurt the president's pro-growth agenda.

Only on "CBS This Morning", Ivanka Trump spoke to Gayle King in her first interview as assistant to the president. "Today's executive order is a good first step toward making Buy America provisions more effective and discouraging excessive waivers, but more needs to be done to pivot the US economy toward steady wage and job growth".

The order, by itself, may have a limited impact but the theater is perhaps as important as the actual act. It does not make the government or companies buy more American products right now.

She went after the crowd over the "what" chants and started talking about Louisville being her city as she was eventually cut off. The lasting image of the night came when Neville had Aries locked in the Rings of Saturn, with Perkins smugly sitting nearby.

"They voted to bring back their jobs, and to bring back their dreams into our country", Trump said.

A majority of them work in the tech sector - some for US firms, others for Indian outsourcing companies such as Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys, who provide services for huge swathes of corporate America.

To that end, the order added, the departments of state, justice, labour and homeland security (of which the US Citizenship and Immigration Services that runs the H-1B programmes is a part) will propose new rules and guidelines to protect American workers from "fraud and abuse".

President Trump has moved towards his first major breakthrough in changing legislative policy by signing an executive order which targets highly-skilled workers in the United States.

So will this executive worker help American workers and products? Right now, it doesn't do a thing for you and me.
