Garcia credits clear mind for good Masters showing so far

Rose, who made seven birdies and had the day's best round (67), nearly felt as though he won the Masters two years ago when he shot 14-under 274 and finished second behind Spieth's record-tying score of 270.

Spieth, who has finished only second and first at Augusta National in his career, carded a four-under par 68 and heads in to his fourth Masters tied for fourth and in with a chance to over-come the demons of past year and win his second green jacket.

Overall, 10 golfers have a solid shot at winning The Masters, entering the final round at -1 or better.

Spieth put himself in position to continue his extraordinary record at the Masters, which he won in 2015 and finished tied second in 2014 and 2016.

What a leaderboard heading into the final round of the Masters. Garcia pitched up to within a foot for a tap-in birdie that could have easily been a bogey.

Charley Hoffman, the first-round leader and second-round co-leader, had a two-shot lead with five holes to play on Saturday.

Charley Hoffman, who began the day as part of a four-way tie for the lead at 4-under, spent much of it alone at the top of the leaderboard before putting his tee shot in the water at the par-3 16th hole.

"We were playing well, but we weren't really making inroads towards the lead, and chose to stay patient, because that's the only choice that we really have, and it kind of paid off".

"Patience is the key on Sunday". This is a golf course where you have to pick your moments. "That will be the game plan". Jordan Spieth got his name high on those famous white leaderboards, the only spot he has ever occupied on the weekend at the Masters. The 18th played the most hard in round three with Justin Rose making one of just five birdies, with 16 bogeys and two doubles leading to an average of 4.283.

No previous Masters victor has trailed by more than seven shots after 18 holes.

Spieth, who recovered with a three-under 69 on Friday, started his third round with five pars, but three birdies in four holes before the turn catapulted him into contention. Spieth's five-birdie, one-bogey round left him at 4-under for the tournament.

"I think I probably could have shot a 67 or 68, but just a few too many wasted opportunities", he said.

His tee shot on No. 10 clipped a tree and shot back into the fairway, while Shane Lowry also hit a tree and couldn't find it.

"I haven't hit it my best this week, but I know we can pull out our best stuff tomorrow", said Fowler, whose birdies on Saturday came on the four par-5s. Garcia could end his major drought Sunday on what would have been the 60th birthday of his idol, the late Spanish legend Seve Ballesteros.

And the 43-year-old, who was third after an opening-round 70, appeared to have scuppered his chances of ending that long wait following a five-over 77 on Friday. Spieth has now shot back-to-back rounds in the 60s.

"I feel great. After the first round, I couldn't ask for much better than this", Spieth said.

I think that we're in a position now where we, I think I can certainly go out there and win this thing and certainly make a run.
Moore, who doesn't often contend in majors, finished Round 3 with six birdies and three bogeys. He bounced back with a birdie and stayed in the lead.
